Electric Furnace Dust Removal System
Product Category:
Dust collector
Product Overview:
The flue gas from induction furnaces has a relatively low temperature, but the dust particles are small—mostly microscopic or even ultra-microscopic—and thus difficult to capture. Moreover, the volume of flue gas requiring treatment varies considerably depending on the specific operating conditions of the furnace.
Composition of the electric furnace dust removal system
As shown in Figure 1, taking as an example a melting workshop equipped with two electric furnaces operating on a one-to-two configuration, totaling four furnace units: Under normal operating conditions, the two furnace units in each electric furnace system alternate between melting and holding operations. The required flue gas volume can generally be considered at 100% for the melting phase and 30% for the holding phase. The mixed flue gas temperature can be designed to be below 130°C. The flue gas ducts run through trenches within the workshop to minimize space occupied by the piping and facilitate both operation and the arrangement of process equipment.
The dust removal system employs a two-stage dry dust removal process featuring cyclone separation followed by filter cartridge filtration. Specifically, the flue gas from each electric furnace sequentially enters a primary cyclone dust collector via a pipe of a certain length to remove coarse particles, and then passes through a secondary pulse-jet filter cartridge/baghouse dust collector for further purification before being discharged into the atmosphere through an exhaust stack.
An electric furnace outlet is equipped with an electric butterfly valve, controlled by a PLC. The airflow rate is regulated via the electric butterfly valve according to the operating conditions of each electric furnace.
The system is equipped with flue gas temperature detection. An emergency electric bypass damper is installed on the inlet duct of the cartridge dust collector. When the detected flue gas temperature reaches and exceeds the maximum operating temperature set for the dust collector, the control system will trigger an alarm and simultaneously rapidly open the electric bypass damper to introduce cool air, thereby protecting the filter elements.
